Sampension, AKF and Comwell Hotels invest in Odense hotel

Sampension, AKF and Comwell Hotels have jointly purchased a hotel in central Odense, expanding their portfolio of hotel properties.

Comwell Hotels currently operates Comwell Copenhagen Portside in Copenhagen's Nordhavn, which is owned by Sampension and AKF, and Comwell Køge Strand, where Comwell is also part of the ownership group.

"We are pleased to expand the good partnership with AKF and Comwell with the investment in the HC Andersen hotel, said Sampension head of properties and infrastructure, Torbjørn Lange.

"We see an attractive investment case in developing the hotel further in terms of sustainability, quality and capacity," he continued.

"We know that we share values with both AKF and Comwell. And based on these values, it is our common vision to create a long-term and sustainable hotel with a central location in Odense."

AKF CEO, Ino Dimsits, added: "The investment in Comwell HC Andersen Odense is not only part of AKF's strategy to strengthen our hotel portfolio - it is also an investment in a city in rapid development."

"Odense has a strong cultural profile, increasing tourism and an attractive, central location. We see great potential here, and with a well-run hotel property as a starting point and good partners, we are in a strong position," he said.

Comwell Hotels CEO, Peter Schelde, also commented: "We are pleased to be a co-investor in Comwell HC Andersen's hotel property, where we have been the operator since 2020.

"In close collaboration with AKF and Sampension, we want to continue to be an active player in the long-term development of the hotel and the city.

"Odense is growing, and we look forward to further contributing to strengthening the city's offerings for both meeting and conference guests as well as cultural experiences in ODEON for Odense residents and other guests from Denmark and abroad," he concluded.

The parties said they have already discussed several possible improvements and expansions, including increased hotel capacity.

However, the plans are still at an early stage and await further clarification.
