The Board of PGGM Cooperative U.A. has reappointed René Paas as its independent chair for a four-year term.
Paas has been King’s Commissioner for the province of Groningen since 2016 and took on the position of chair of the PGGM cooperative board in 2022.
According to the board, Paas has proven himself a committed, expert and authoritative chair and his in-depth knowledge, managerial sensitivity and unifying style allow him to carefully reconcile the various interests within the cooperative board.
The board also explained that Paas fulfils a bridging role between the cooperative board and the other bodies within PGGM and PFZW.
Commenting on his reappointment, Paas said: “The cooperative board has an important role as a shareholder of PGGM but also bears a great responsibility regarding the current and future challenges facing the care and welfare sector.
“I look forward to continuing to work with the cooperative board and the members’ council in the coming period to help professionals in the sector sustain their work.
“This will be done through the Healthcare and Welfare Vitality business unit, using research, data and practical support. Not on the basis that a single intervention will transform the sector, but because greater insight is often the first step towards better solutions.”
