Dutch pension asset manager PGGM has appointed Daniëlle Melis to its Supervisory Board and Gabriëlle Krapels as chief policy officer to its Statutory Asset Management Board.
Melis' appointment is effect from 14 May 2025, succeeding Jan van Rutte, who served two terms as a supervisory director.
Melis will also be on the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee and has been a member of the Supervisory Board of PGGM Asset Management (PGGM Vermogensbeheer) B.V. since 1 April 2022.
Melis will combine these supervisory directorships for the time being.
The Supervisory Board said Melis is a “valuable addition” because of her “broad” experience as a director and supervisor in the financial sector.
Commenting on her appointment, Melis said: "PGGM bears an important responsibility for the realisation of a good, affordable and sustainable pension for its clients, pension funds and their participants, now and in the future.
“In recent years, I have been able to get to know PGGM as a driven and knowledgeable organisation with employees who work every day for pension participants in the healthcare and welfare sector and other sectors.
“I look forward to contributing to this great organisation as a member of the supervisory board."
Krapels appointment as chief policy officer to its Statutory Asset Management Board is effective from 1 July 2025.
In her new role at PGGM, she will provide strategic policy advice and develop the investment strategy for Pensioenfonds Zorg en Welzijn (PFZW), for which PGGM manages the investments.
She will report to PGGM Investment Management chief executive officer, Geraldine Leegwater.
Krapels comes from APG Asset Management, where she was, until recently, managing director responsible investments and fiduciary management. Before that, she was a manager at the Dutch Investment Institution and a senior policy advisor at the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Commenting on the appointment, Leegwater said: "With the arrival of Gabrielle, the management team of our new Asset Management Organisation is complete."
The organisation, which will become operational on 1 June 2025, will focus on advising, implementing and executing the PFZW Investment Policy 2030.
“Gabrielle brings valuable experience in advising on the strategic investment policy of pension funds. In particular, her knowledge of integrating return, risk and sustainability into the investment policy are of added value for the realisation of the joint strategy of PFZW and PGGM," Leegwater added.
Commenting on her appointment, Krapels said she is "looking forward” to starting at PGGM Asset Management, calling it a “very knowledgeable organisation”.
“I look forward to being able to contribute to shaping the new organisation in my new role and to dedicating myself to the pension fund participants of PFZW,” she said.
