BPL Pensioen, the Dutch pension fund for those in the agriculture and green sector, has appointed seven new members to its Accountability Body, replacing seven members who have completed their maximum terms in office.

The fund’s Accountability Body consists of 21 members, and of the new appointments, three have been elected on behalf of employees, two on behalf of pensioners and two on behalf of employers.

The members appointed on behalf of employees are Elsje Vos, Christiaan Krause and Leo Hanse.

Krause and Hanse were nominated by Christelijk Nationaal Vakverbond (CNV), the National Federation of Christian Trade Unions, while Vos was nominated by the Federatie Nederlandse Vakbeweging (FNV), the Dutch Trade Union Federation.
 
The members appointed to serve on behalf of pensioners are Jan Vermue and Tjitte Tuinier. Vermue was nominated for the role by FNV, and Tuinier by CNV.

Additionally, Sandra van der Meer and Peter Blok were appointed to represent employers.

Blok was nominated for the role by Koninklijke Vereniging van Hoveniers en Groenvoorzieners (VHG), the Royal Association of Landscape Gardeners and Green Service Providers.

Van der Meer was nominated for the position by Cumela, the Dutch trade association for companies working in culture-technical works, groundworks, infrastructure, agricultural contracting, and fertiliser distribution.

The fund said it is “delighted that these appointments have strengthened the Accountability Body” and wished the new members every success and wisdom in their new roles.

Current members Francien de Wit, Ton Greeve, Jenne Oosting, Jan Hoogland, Rob Bekker, Henk van de Werf and Jan Dijkstra have stepped down from their positions on the Accountability Body.

The Accountability Body advises the board on policy and assesses whether the policy has been implemented properly. Accountability Body members are allowed to serve for two terms. Each term is a maximum of four years, and members may be immediately reappointed or re-elected once, meaning the maximum time allowed to be a member of the board is eight consecutive years.
