News in brief: 29 August 2025

- The current coverage ratio of Stichting Shell Pensioenfonds (SSPF) increased by 2 per cent to 135.3 per cent in July.

The Dutch pension fund also reported a policy funding ratio of 132.3 per cent in July, up marginally from 132.2 per cent the month before. The fund also shared an update on its work towards the implementation of the Future Pensions Act (Wtp), confirming that SSPF is intended to transition to the amended pension scheme by 1 January 2027, including the transfer of accrued and current pensions to the new system, subject to regulatory approval.

- The Credit Suisse Pension Fund has reported a small increase in performance over July.

The fund achieved a return of 0.08 per cent in July 2025, bringing its year-to-date performance to 0.76 per cent. This compares with a 0.07 per cent gain in June. Earlier in the year, the fund suffered from market volatility, recording a negative return of -1.08 per cent in March.

- Skandia has partnered with the Swedish Basketball Association on a four-year contract.

The collaboration will support senior and youth national teams as well as broad youth activities across the country, with a focus on health, community and equality. The partnership will also cover the Youth Championship, which sees nearly 4,500 players aged 15-21 competing each season. Skandia president and CEO, Frans Lindelöw, said that business and sport were "natural partners", as they invested in both the well-being of individuals and the future of society.

- Arbejdernes Landsbank will implement AI tools to free up time for customer advisors.

Arbejdernes Landsbank, a Danish bank, is rolling out artificial intelligence tools to automate routine tasks, such as writing minutes and responding to online banking messages, to free up more time for its 300 customer advisors to engage directly with clients. The bank stated that the measures could save up to 12,000 working hours per year, enabling staff to focus on home purchases and investments. Arbejdernes Landsbank handles around 65,000 customer meetings and receives some 500,000 online banking messages annually. “Time for customers is the highest priority at Arbejdernes Landsbank, said Arbejdernes Landsbank bank director, Simon Sinding Jørgensen. "Our customer advisors also find that it is much more fun to talk to customers about home purchases and investments than to write reports,” he added.
