More than one million Romanians have accessed the pilonul2.ro portal over the past year to inquire about their private pension, the Association for Privately Administered Pensions in Romania's (APAPR) analysis of Google Analytics has found.
The traffic indicators from Google Analytics, which include unique users, number of sessions and number of pages viewed, registered an increase of about 50 per cent compared to the previous 12 months.
The portal was launched a year ago, alongside a national information campaign carried out by APAPR, and allows any person to find out in a few minutes whether and to which mandatory private pension fund they are a participant, as well as to create an online account on the fund administrator's website.
This is intended to help savers easily find out the amount accumulated in their personal private pension account, as well as the contribution history and other details of interest.
On average, each of the over one million Romanians who accessed pilonul2.ro spent over 3 and a half minutes on the portal.
The research suggested that five key moments over the past year prompted a surge in interest in the portal, starting with the national information campaign carried out by APAPR in 2024 (Oct-Nov).
The elimination of exceptions from Pillar 2 and the return of almost half a million employees with contributions to their pension funds starting January 2025 also prompted a spike in interest, as did discussions related to the introduction of CASS on payments made by private pension funds (June), and debates surrounding the pay law (August).
The debut of the national campaign run by APAPR in 2025, which will take place during September and October, on TV and online, also sparked an increase in traffic to the site.
