Varma appoints Kaisu Viitasalo as chief legal officer

Finnish earnings-related pension provider Varma has appointed Kaisu Viitasalo as chief legal officer, effective 1 September 2026.

She will report to CEO, Risto Murro, and takes over from Tuula Kallio, who will continue as an adviser to the company until her retirement on 1 January 2027.

Viitasalo currently serves as the head of Varma’s Legal Services Department. She has extensive experience at Varma, is very familiar with the pension system and Varma’s operations, and is widely respected within the organisation as an expert and leader.

“I would like to extend my warmest thanks to Tuula Kallio for her long and valuable service to Varma. I would also like to congratulate Kaisu Viitasalo on her appointment as chief legal officer and secretary of the Executive Committee,” Murto said.
