UWV Pension Fund elects new accountability body members

The Dutch pension fund UWV, for employees of the Dutch Workers Insurance Authority, has elected a new Accountability Body consisting of eight members - four representing current workers and four representing pensioners.

On behalf of the members, Maartje van den Berg, Sanja Stojanovic and Martha Hernandez Lara have been elected as representatives, while Paul van Rijn has been appointed as a substitute member.

Van den Berg has worked at UWV since 1 April 2025 and previously worked at Aegon as an advisor on pensions, income and assets.

Stojanovic is a business control & quality manager within UWV’s social medical affairs (SMZ) division.

Hernandez Lara works in UWV's chief investment officer’s office, where she deals with strategic issues related to information provision.

And Van Rijn joined UWV after a long career at Rabobank, taking on the role of implementation manager within the SMZ division.

On behalf of the pensioners, Diantha Croese, Niko Keijzer and Hans Marell have been elected as representatives, while Jan ten Kate has been appointed as a substitute member.

Croese worked at UWV for 44 years before taking early retirement last year. During her career, she worked with various pension funds and the Dutch Pension Federation. For 10 years, she served on the fund’s Participants’ Council, and when that body was replaced by the Accountability Body, she became active in the Works Council of her division and the company, alongside her role as an occupational expert.

Keijzer joined the UWV Pensioners' Association (GVU) and became a member of the board.

Marell worked for ABP for 22 years and for UWV for 23 years, most recently as district manager SMZ. He also worked for WERKbedrijf for many years.

Ten Kate began his career at GAK, where he held several positions within the former General Disability Benefits and Disability Insurance Department. For the past 20 years of his career, he served as SMZ manager.

There is a period of five working days following the announcement of the appointments during which objections to the election results may be submitted. If there are no objections, the board will confirm the elected candidates at its meeting on 6 November 2025.

The appointments will become final once they are approved by the Supervisory Board. The new members will officially take their seats on the UWV Pension Fund Accountability Body on 1 July 2026.

In total, 1,377 pensioners and 939 active UWV employees participated in the election.
