Swedish Pensions Agency terminates fund agreements

The Swedish Pensions Agency has terminated all funds managed by Celina Fondförvaltning, formerly Catella Fondförvaltning, from the premium pension fund square.

The decision was made following the Swedish Pensions Agency’s investigation into the trustee’s contractual compliance. The investigation found that the fund manager no longer meets the conditions in the Swedish Pensions Agency's fund agreement, especially regarding the management of conflicts of interest in connection with related party transactions.

Two of the funds have been stopped buying since the investigation started on 14 January 2022 and two more funds are now being stopped in connection with the termination. The deregistered funds are: Catella Avkastningsfond A, Catella Småbolagsfond A, Catella Sweden Active Sustainability A and Catella Sweden Sustainable Beta A.

"The tightened requirements for fund managers and funds in the premium pension's new fund agreement are an important part of the savings protection in the fund square. Here we see that our ongoing review works and has a protective effect for savers," Swedish Pensions Agency fund management department, Erik Fransson, said.

There are 27,128 savers who have chosen one of the four funds involved and their fund capital is transferred to AP7 Såfa or other selected funds.
