SPA appoints Pär Hedén as head of department for public pensions

The Swedish Pensions Agency (SPA) has appointed Pär Hedén as head of department for public pensions and is now part of the SPA’s management team.

This appointment comes as the previous production department at SPA is being reorganised and replaced this year by three new departments.

These are the Department for Public Pensions, the Department for Housing and Income Support, and the Department for Joint Insurance and Survivor's Pensions.

In April, Biljana Lajic was appointed head of department for joint insurance and survivors' pensions.

Hedén has worked at SPA since 2019, and before this, he held several managerial positions at Lantmäteriet. For this role, he was recruited internally and has been acting in his new role since 5 May 2025.

Commenting on the appointment, SPA director general, Anna Pettersson Westerberg, said she was “very pleased” that Hedén has accepted the position and praised him for his “solid knowledge” of the business.

Westerberg expressed her confidence in Hedén’s managerial experience from the SPA, highlighting it as a reassuring asset for the ongoing efforts in the new department.

Adding to this, Hedén said: "I look forward with excitement to being responsible for public pensions at the SPA and contributing to the continuation of the agency's mission towards savers and pensioners.”
