The Norwegian State Pension Fund (SPK) has appointed Solveig Skjermo as its chief technology officer.
Skjermo joins from the Norwegian Agency for Cultural Heritage, where she served as IT manager.
A civil engineering graduate from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), she brings extensive experience in technology leadership, having previously held senior roles at the Housing Bank and consulted for Sopra Steria and Capgemini Consulting.
At SPK, around one-third of the organisation’s roughly 480 employees work on developing digital services and systems.
Skjermo will take overall responsibility for technology and product development across the fund.
Commenting on her appointment, she said she was looking forward to “a working day with both modern product organisation and complex development tasks”, adding that SPK is well regarded among technologists for its advanced digital capabilities.
SPK chief executive, Tomas Berg, said that Skjermo would play a "central role" in the fund’s ambition to support the development of Norway’s welfare system through digital innovation.
“I am delighted to have Solveig join the team and senior management," he continued.
"We manage the pensions of over one million people and in recent years have delivered a completely new solution for public service pensions, developed in close collaboration with our users.
“In a time of major technological upheaval, her strategic expertise will be particularly valuable as we further develop SPK’s digital solutions and implement new technology in a safe and efficient manner,” Berg added.
SPK manages pension rights and insurance schemes for 1.2 million Norwegians across more than 1,300 public-sector employers, with earned pension rights valued at NOK 758.6bn in 2024.
