Pensioenfonds PostNL postpones transition to new scheme

Pensioenfonds PostNL has delayed its transition to the new pension system by two months, it has announced.

The pension scheme had originally planned to switch on 1 April 2026, but it will now move across to the new system on 1 June 2026.

Pensioenfonds PostNL said that “carefulness is paramount” and it needs extra time.

“We want to thoroughly test the systems and get them ready for the new pension scheme. We are doing this together with TKP, which handles our administration. We believe it is important that everything is correct before we proceed. That is why we are postponing the switch by two months,” it stated.

Over half of Dutch workers had transferred to the new Dutch pension system.

As of January, 30 pension funds have transitioned to the new system, with six more expected to follow suit within the next six months.

At the end of this year, another 15 funds should have made the switch, while 61 pension funds plan to transition in 2027, after which the last 25 funds will switch on 1 January 2028.
