Pensioenfonds PostNL’s policy funding ratio increases to 105.4%

The policy funding ratio for Pensioenfonds PostNL increased to 105.4 per cent in August, up from 105.2 per cent at the end of July.

The policy funding ratio is the average of the monthly funding ratios over the past 12 months. The fund said that based on the current policy funding ratio, pensions cannot be increased, but they do not need to be reduced either.

The current funding ratio increased to 105.9 per cent in August 2020.

The development of the funding ratio depends on the amount of the investments and the provisions. This month investments and interest have risen, which has has a positive impact on the funding ratio.

“Only in the longer term will the effects of the coronavirus crisis be clearly visible. The board carefully monitors whether and when additional measures are necessary. No measures are required at this time.

“The pension fund also has a crisis plan that provides guidance. The board regularly discusses developments in the markets and in the investment portfolio with the investment advisers,” the fund stated.
