Danish pension provider PKA has appointed Mads Skaaning as chief investment officer (CIO), succeeding Michael Nellemann Pedersen, who is retiring.
Skaaning joined PKA in 2017 and has been deputy director in the provider’s investment department since 2018.
He has 20 years of investment experience and has previously worked for both SEB Pension and Danske Capital. Skaaning will take up the position of CIO on 28 April 2026.
Commenting on the appointment, PKA CEO, Jon Johnsen, said: "Mads has the right profile to drive our investments in the future and contribute to the continued development of PKA. He is a key contributor to the development of the investment area over the past 10 years and has played an important role in the results we have achieved at PKA.
"At the same time, Mads is also a very well-liked leader with a strategic and sharp profile as well as a large network – and I am therefore incredibly happy to be able to continue an even closer collaboration with Mads."
Skaaning added that he is looking forward to continuing the work of growing members' pensions, stating: "For many years, I have had the pleasure of working closely with Michael Nellemann Pedersen and the rest of the investment team, and I look forward to continuing the strong, long-term investment strategy that creates value for all our members".
Pedersen has spent over 36 years at PKA and 25 years as the head of the provider’s investment area.
Johnsen thanked Pedersen for his efforts at PKA and noted Pedersen can "now concentrate on his well-deserved pension and board work".
