Occupational pensions top priority for job-hunting Swedes

Occupational pensions are the most important benefit consideration for Swedes when looking for a new job, research from AMF has revealed.

The research showed that nearly two-thirds (62 per cent) of Swedes rank occupational pension as one of the three most important work benefits.

This was followed by collective agreements, cited by 44 per cent of respondents, and remote work/flexible working hours, which was highlighted as a top priority by 42 per cent.

AMF content developer, Ebba Lagersten, said it is "gratifying" that so many people value occupational pensions so highly, highlighting this as a demonstration that more and more people understand the crucial role workplace pensions play in future financial security.

"Even though many people consider themselves poorly informed about pensions in general, they see the value of receiving an occupational pension when looking for a job," Lagersten said.

AMF said that the findings also show the value of the collective agreement, of which the occupational pension is a central part, holding up the results as evidence that long-term security systems are appreciated by employees.

"The fact that collective agreements are also at the top is very positive because it contributes to security and also means that you get an occupational pension," Lagersten said.

"Ensuring that you have a collective agreement is an effective way to create security for yourself both now and in the future."
