Mercer Portugal appoints Rodrigo Simões de Almeida as CEO

Mercer Portugal has appointed Rodrigo Simões de Almeida as CEO, effective from 5 April.

Simões de Almeida’s most recent role was as CEO of March Portugal. With over 20 years of experience in the financial sector, Simões de Almeida has spent a large part of his career at the former Banco Espírito Santo. He held various positions of responsibility in Portugal, Switzerland and Spain, where he was a member of the executive committee and assumed the position of general director of corporate banking.

He has a degree in Business Management from Universidade Católica Portuguesa and has undertaken several Management Development Programs carried out both in Spain, at the IESE Business School, and in France at the Insead Business School - Fontaineblau. Since 2011 he has also been vice-president of the Hispano-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce.

He succeeds Diogo Alarcão, who has served in the role since 2006.
