The Irish branch of Law Debenture has announced the appointment of Sylvia McNeece as an independent professional trustee.
McNeece brings extensive senior leadership, transformation, legal and regulatory experience with her to Law Debenture. She joins from Lane Clark and Peacock (LCP), where she was a senior governance consultant.
Before that, she was head of legal at the Pensions Authority for 15 years, during which she was responsible for drafting and negotiating all pensions legislation.
More recently, she led the Project Management Office at the Pensions Authority, where she was responsible for strategic planning and developing the roadmap for the Pensions Authority’s transition to a forward-looking, risk-based supervisor under IORP II.
She is also skilled in stakeholder and relationship management, having represented the Pensions Authority regularly in EU fora and as a member of the government’s Interdepartmental Pensions Reform and Taxation Working Group between 2019 and 2024.
Commenting on her appointment, McNeece said: “Combining my legal and pensions career history, Law Debenture is the natural fit for my next step. Harnessing my years of fine-tuned expertise in strategic development, pensions law and senior leadership, I look forward to working with the team at Law Debenture to expand our business and continue its success.”
LawDeb Pensions Ireland head of pensions, Paul Torsney, said McNeece joins as the firm’s fourth Dublin-based trustee.
“Her skills and experience complement those of the existing team, and we look forward to working with her on the continued growth of the business, working with stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for members,” he added.
