Lars Rohde set to become Alecta chairman

The former Danish Riksbank governor, Lars Rohde, has been selected by Alecta's nomination committee to be elected as the new chairman of the board of Alecta, at a board meeting that will take place in February.

Rohde was head of the Danish Riksbank between 2013-2023 and has previously been CEO of the Danish pension company ATP 1998-2013.

Alecta chair of the supervisory board, Kenneth Bengtsson, said Rohde has a “unique background and experience” to lead Alecta’s board and restore trust after a series of challenges at the company.

“Lars Rohde has not worked in Sweden before and that is something new for a chairman of the board of Alecta. His competence, experience and personality are of such a calibre that we feel safe with this proposal,” Bengtsson added.

The preparatory committee has called an extra board meeting on 6 February to elect a new board chairman. The regular Board of Directors meeting will now take place on 25 April. The preparatory committee's proposal is subject to customary examination by the Financial Supervisory Authority.
