Irish multi-asset pension funds return average 0.3% in May - Rubicon

Irish multi-asset pension funds made an average return of 0.3 per cent in May, according to Rubicon Investment Consulting.

The survey undertaken by Rubicon found that returns ranged from 1.6 per cent to -0.5 per cent over the month.

In addition, over the first five months of 2021, the funds surveyed have delivered an average gain of 8.5 per cent. For the 16 funds surveyed over a 12 month period, the average return is 22.3 per cent. However, returns for the past year ranged significantly, from 27.1 per cent to 15.7 per cent, reflecting the volatile year experienced by investment markets.

“The average return has been strong, at 8 per cent, per annum, over the past three years. The five-year average return is a robust 7.9 per cent, per annum. Fund returns over the past 10 years have been a healthy 8.9 per cent, per annum on average,” Rubicon stated.

This is the fourth month in which Rubicon has been reporting on multi-asset pension funds, having started in March.
