Herman Kappelle joins the Netherlands’ GIP Appeals Committee

The Board of the Netherlands’ Pension Fund Disputes Authority (GIP) has appointed Herman Kappelle as a member of the Appeals Committee.

With this appointment, the committee now consists of four members: Kappelle, Mr A. Hammerstein, Mr Prof. Dr R.J.A. Laeven and Mr J.A.P. Veringa. Kappelle’s position on the committee is a part-time role.

Kappelle is a lawyer and tax specialist, specialising in pensions and other retirement provisions.

Until reaching state pension age, he was a professor by special appointment of Tax Pension Law at VU University Amsterdam and senior adviser at a.s.r. Nederland, formerly Aegon Netherlands. In addition to this, he is the owner of Herman Kappelle Tax and Legal Pension Advice.

The Appeals Committee rules on objections (appeals) lodged by claimants and pension funds against decisions of the GIP Disputes Committee.
