Germany’s Lurse appoints Norman Dreger as managing partner

German firm Lurse has appointed Norman Dreger as managing partner of its management team, with effect from 1 February 2025.

Dreger will be responsible for actuarial services and the expansion of the global pensions and benefits business.

In his new role, he will lead the actuarial services division with the aim of driving its growth and development through the deployment of the actuarial tools used for companies, pension funds, and other pension institutions, adapting them to upcoming challenges.

In addition to this, Dreger will also lead the expansion of Lurse’s global pensions and benefits business. Alongside the experts of the MBWL network, to which Lurse belongs, he will advise companies on the strategic design and management of their benefit plans.

Dreger and his team will support clients in the areas of global actuarial services, mergers, and acquisitions, as well as in pension administration. They will also help clients with the establishment, optimisation, and management of global insurance programs.

Dreger started his career in 1999 as an actuary and consultant at Mercer Canada and moved to Germany in 2001.

He brings 25 years of experience in pensions and benefits management in Germany and worldwide to his new role. Until 2023, he served as Mercer Germany and Mercer Austria CEO, as well as Mercer Pensionsfonds AG chairman of the supervisory board.

Dreger has also held a senior role in Mercer at the Multinational Client Segment (MCS), overseeing the international key account management function and servicing global clients.

He is also an International Employee Benefits Association member of the main committee, which he chaired from 2019 to 2021.

Commenting on Dreger’s appointment, Lurse managing partner, Matthias Edelmann, said Lurse was “pleased” to welcome Dreger to its leadership team and said his “extensive" experience and national and international expertise in the occupational pension market will “significantly” strengthen Lurse.

"Norman will elevate our international MBWL network and our global client relationships to the next level.”

Edelmann added: “With the hiring of Norman Dreger, Lurse continues to position itself as a leading provider in the HR and retirement landscape.

“This reinforces our position as an innovative partner for national and international companies in all strategic, legal, actuarial, economic, and administrative matters – both in occupational pensions and benefits. During this time, we have significantly expanded our service offerings in the pension sector.”

Adding to this, Lurse managing partner, Norman Dreger, said: “I look forward to working with the expert team at Lurse and supporting its clients in addressing their challenges in the field of pensions and benefits, both nationally and internationally.

“Lurse has established itself as an innovator in the area of pensions, benefits, and HR consulting, and I am excited to contribute to advancing the company further.”

In 2023, Lurse acquired the digital pension administrator AMAKURA and in May 2024 the actuarial office Mensch & Kuhnert.
