Finland’s Varma appoints Markus Aho as VP unlisted investments

Finland’s Varma has appointed Markus Aho as vice president, unlisted investments.

Aho previously worked in Varma's investments as a forerunner of the private equity team and as a director of private equity. He takes over the role from Mikko Koivusalo, who will continue to work as the director responsible for special projects and as a member of the investment team.

“It is great to be able to continue working on unlisted investments in a new role with a familiar and experienced team. The long-term nature of unlisted investments and the importance of partnerships require the organisation to be both innovative and vigilant,” Aho said.

Varma executive vice president, Reima Rytsölä, said: “The importance of unlisted investments in Varma's portfolio has grown year by year, and it is great for Varma that Markus will continue his ground-breaking work. I also believe that the controlled generational change in management will strengthen the positive image of Varma as an employer.”
