Dutch Pension Federation nominates new chairman

The board of the Dutch Pension Federation has nominated Ger Jaarsma to be the new chairman of the organisation.

The members of the Pension Federation will decide on his appointment at the general members' meeting on 21 September.

Jaarsma is currently chairman of the PayOK Foundation and the Dutch Entrepreneurs Association for Fishing Companies (NOA).

If his appointment is approved, Jaarsma will leave his role as chairman of the NOA and immediately start as chairman of the Pension Federation.

Prior to his current roles, Jaarsma was chairman of the NVM brokers’ association, and held directorships and chairmanships at credit banks and the NVVK industry association for debt relief and financial services.

Commenting on his appointment, Jaarsma said: “I look forward to fleshing out the strategic tasks at the Pension Federation.

“A lot is going to change in the pension world; I look forward to leading these changes, together with the members, and to involving all external parties involved.”

Pension Federation acting chairman, Jose Meijer, added: “Ger Jaarsma's thorough administrative and political experience, knowledge of semi-public organisations and governance issues are in line with what the Pension Federation will need in the coming period, with so many changes.

“His experience with themes such as financial resilience and housing are a nice addition to all the topics that the Pension Federation is working on. I will pass the baton to him with confidence.”
