Denmark’s PBU appoints Marie-Louise Jørgensen as chair of the board

Denmark’s Pædagogernes Pension (PBU), the pension fund for teachers, has appointed Marie-Louise Jørgensen as chair of the board, effective 1 April.

She replaces former second deputy mayor of Odder Municipality, Uffe Jensen, who has served as chair of the board since 2019.

Jørgensen holds a Master’s degree in Economics, is the second deputy mayor of Hvidovre Municipality, elected for the Socialist People’s Party, and was appointed by Local Government Denmark.

At the fund’s recent annual general meeting, Jørgensen was welcomed as the new chair of the board and introduced to the members.

Commenting on her appointment, Jørgensen said: "Pædagogernes Pension plays a major role in the security of the educators' working life and retirement. I am very much looking forward to taking on the chairmanship and helping to ensure a pension company that is financially robust, has a strong focus on socially responsible investments and at the same time is closely linked to the members' reality.”

The appointment comes at a time when PBU is in a strong position within the pension sector. In 2025, PBU delivered a 12.5 per cent return for members under 56, despite political turmoil and significant market fluctuations.

And over three-, seven- and 10-year periods, PBU has also delivered the industry’s best returns to the same member group, and the company once again had the lowest total costs in the industry.
