Denmark’s Forsikring & Pension welcomes progress on climate roadmap

Forsikring & Pension has welcomed the news from Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, that the government is making progress with its climate roadmap.

At the DI Summit, the Prime Minister confirmed that the government is on track with the policy to introduce climate targets that must be in place to achieve Denmark’s climate goal for 2030.

The organisation had been calling on the government to draft and implement and economic roadmap for the country’s green transition.

It published a report that outlined 13 proposals that the government could adopt to accelerate the transition to a green economy.

“It is simply so important that the government will now lay out a roadmap ahead of all the concrete measures needed to achieve the climate goal - and that all major decisions must be made by 2025,” commented Forsikring & Pension CEO, Kent Damsgaard.

“The green transition requires some huge investments, and the more familiar and clear framework we have, the better we can handle that task together.”

Forsikring & Pension had called for the introduction of a climate fund within the forthcoming Finance Act and for the government to introduce ambitious climate requirements for the public sector as well as the private sector.

“We have a huge task ahead of us when it comes to the green transition and the 70 per cent target for 2030, and we know that around DKK 600bn must be invested by 2030 to get there,” Damsgaard continued.

“That is why a climate roadmap from the government is so essential, that is why it is excellent and important news from the Prime Minister.”
