Danish pension company Danica has announced the appointment of Frederik Sjørslev Søgaard as its new chief operating officer (COO) and member of its executive board.

Sjørslev Søgaard joins from Tryg Forsikring, where he held several senior positions over the past 10 years.

Most recently, he was IT director, while his other roles included commercial director at Tryg Privat, director of Alka Forsikring and for Tryg's claims handling in Denmark.

He replaces former Danica COO, Jesper Bjerre, who resigned from the pension company in mid-August.

Danica CEO, Mads Kaagaard, commented: "Our strategy is about continuously strengthening customers' experiences with Danica through both strong healthcare services, good returns and digital solutions.

“This requires that we have the right profiles to drive development, and here Frederik is a really strong match.

“His extensive experience with transformations, management of complex organizations and his ability to elevate the use of data and new technology must be brought into play for the benefit of Danica's customers.”

Sjørslev Søgaard will also play a key role in strengthening Danica’s collaboration with Danske Bank, which is part of the pension company’s 2028 strategy, drawing on his experience from his time as Alka CEO, where he was responsible for the integration with Tryg after the acquisition.

"Danica has an important and very meaningful task in ensuring customers' financial and health security both now and in the future by delivering strong pension products and healthcare offers,” said Sjørslev Søgaard.

“I also see it as a great strength to be part of the Danske Bank Group in order to be able to offer customers holistic and future-proof solutions.”
