Alae Laghrich appointed as chair of PME executive board

The board of the Dutch pension fund, PME, has appointed Alae Laghrich as chair of the executive board, succeeding Eric Uijen.

Laghrich has been the key risk management officer at PME since 2021 and executive director since 2022.

As chair of the executive board, he will now be responsible for strategy, governance, communication, PA/PR and pension policy and implementation.

Due to Laghrich’s new appointment, the PME board has appointed a new key risk management officer and is still looking for a new executive director.

Commenting on his appointment, Laghrich said he was “grateful for the trust” that the board has placed in him.

“All our participants and employers are future makers who are working on products and solutions for the challenges of today and tomorrow. I look forward to leading the implementation of PME's strategic course in the coming years.

“The introduction of the new pension scheme is now the highest priority. Our participants must be able to reap the benefits of the new pension system as soon as possible. In addition, we at PME remain committed to investing for a good pension. That starts with achieving a good financial return. We will continue to do so with an eye for risks and costs, and in a responsible and sustainable manner."

He also expressed his appreciation to his successor, Uijen, who will remain involved with the fund.

“I am pleased that he will now be focusing entirely on the careful implementation of the new pension scheme. The scheme requires a new approach to our services, with a focus on clear, reliable and personal guidance and communication with our participants and employers. I think it is valuable that we can continue to count on his expertise,” Laghrich said.
