APG Asset Management appoints new CEO

APG Asset Management has appointed Alineke van den Berge-Blindenbach as chief executive officer, effective 1 July 2026.

Van den Berge-Blindenbach joined the Dutch firm in 2023 as chief operating officer and has served as chief executive officer ad interim since March 2026.

She has extensive leadership experience, including previous roles at ABN AMRO, and is also a member of the APG Group Executive Committee.

The appointment follows APG’s renewed strategy, announced at the end of 2025, which is centred around two business units: Pension Services and Asset Management.

APG said the appointment marks an important step in the transformation of APG Asset Management, which will focus exclusively on managing ABP's pension assets from 2030 onwards.

APG Group executive board chair, Annette Mosman, said: “I am pleased that Alineke is taking on this role, which she has already fulfilled on an interim basis in recent months.

“With her experience in transformation and execution, she is well positioned to lead the organisation into its next phase.

“Alineke has contributed to shaping the renewed strategy and will now continue its implementation, ensuring continuity and stability.”

APG Asset Management supervisory board chair, Allan Polack, added: “What characterises Alineke is her clear and transparent way of working, combined with a strong sense of coherence.

“This is essential as we continue to develop the organisation in an integrated manner.”

Van den Berge-Blindenbach noted that APG Asset Management is entering an important phase as it continues to build towards a joint investment chain with ABP.

“The strategy is in place, the focus is now on execution,” she stressed.

“We will further develop an efficient and future-proof organisation that contributes good pension in a livable world.”

In her role as chief operating officer, Van den Berge-Blindenbach is responsible for data, IT and operations.

She will continue to fulfil the chief operating officer role until a successor has been appointed, to ensure continuity.
