The OECD area has seen less GDP growth in the second quarter of 2011, as growth slowed to 0.2% compared to 0.3% in the previous quarter.

In the Euro area and European Union growth slowed from 0.8% in the first quarter of 2011 to 0.2% in the next quarter. In Germany GDP growth slowed to 0.1% compared to 1.3% in the first quarter, while in France and the United Kingdom growth also slowed, from 0.9% to 0% and from 0.2% to 0.5% respectively. However, GDP growth in Italy picked up to 0.3% compared to 0.1% in the previous quarter.

Relative to a year earlier, GDP increased by 1.6% in the second quarter of 2011 in the OECD area, down from 2.4% in the previous quarter.
