News in brief, mandates and product launches from this week

Deutsche Bank and Omega Advisors have announced the planned launch of the UCITS compliant DB Platinum Omega fund on the bank’s UCITS platform in December 2011. The fund will be managed by Leon Cooperman, chairman and chief executive officer of Omega.

iShares has announced the launch of the iShares Dow Jones Emerging Markets Select Dividend ETF, a fund which aims to provide investors with the opportunity to combine an income stream with the potential for long term capital growth. Investors can withdraw income on a quarterly basis or reinvest income payments received from investment objectives.

The Pensions Board will be accepting submissions of Annual Scheme Information returns electronically through ISIS. Returns can be submitted via the ‘Submission’ tab on the ‘Dashboard’ on ISIS.

Donald MacDonald has been appointed as chairman of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC). MacDonald will seek to improve dialogue with policy makers in order to create the right frameworks for low-carbon investment and is a trustee director of the BT Pensions Scheme. He is also past chairman of the United Nations Principles for responsible investment.
