Brouwer appointed chair of ABP board of trustees

ABP, the Netherlands’ largest pension fund, has appointed Henk Brouwer as the new chair of its board of trustees.

Announcing the appointment, ABP said Brouwer has amassed “very extensive” experience in both the government and at financial regulator De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB).

“He is a chairman that suits ABP and strengthens our board.”

Brouwer recently left DNB, where he had been director since 1997. During the last two years he was responsible for banking supervision and supervisory policy.

Before DNB, Brouwer served as a senior official at a number of ministries, as deputy director general at the Ministry of the Interior, as director general at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment and as treasurer general at the Ministry of Finance, a position he held for five years.
