Appointments Update

Aviva Investors has appointed Catrinus van Willigen as managing director for the Benelux region. He will use his understanding of local investment needs and knowledge of business development to expand the company’s relationships with institutional investors and financial institutions. He joins from Robeco, where he was executive vice president, responsible for establishing strategic relationships, servicing institutional clients and overseeing institutional account management. He has also worked at Rabobank and at the Institute for Research and Investment Services based in the Netherlands.

Osborne Clarke has strengthened its pensions team with the hire of CMS Cameron McKenna partner Keith Webster. Webster becomes the fourth partner in the team and has over 15 years’ experience in all aspects of pensions work. He has particular experience of investment matters and advises a number of pension product providers as well as being chairman of the Association of Pension Lawyers Committee.

Ignis Asset Management
has announced the appointment of Liisa Juntunen who will join Ignis’ distribution team in January 2012. She will take a leadership position in Ignis’ institutional business development team with a focus on consultant relations and will also help to develop and position Ignis’ equity and real estate offerings. Prior to joining Ignis, Juntunen was responsible for marketing and sales, product development and consultant relations at AllianceBernstein.

State Street Corporation has announced the appointment of Finbarr Downing as head of compliance for State Street International Ireland Limited. Downing will oversee the company’s existing compliance team and joins from Northern Trust where he served as head of fund and regulatory compliance. He has also held senior management positions at AIB/Bank of New York (BNY) Fund Management, BNY Securities Services, FIMAT International Banque and ABN Amro.

Catherine McKenna has been appointed global practice group leader of the pensions team at Squire Sanders Hammonds. McKenna joined the firm in 1994 and has been a partner within the pensions team for 15 years.
