Irish managed pension funds gain 5.5% over January

Irish managed pension funds enjoyed a strong start to the new year with returning an average of 5.5% over January, according to Rubicon Investment Consulting.

Merrion Investment Managers and Zurich Life topped the table for January, both returning 5.9%, while Davy Asset Management, saw its yield lag behind in its group, with a return of 4.6%.

The returns over the past year have been more disappointing and Irish pension managed returned -1.0% on average.

Davy Asset Management and Setanta Asset Management however still managed to keep the 12-month average positive, with +1.9%, while Merrion Investment Managers had the lowest average, with -4.5%.

The long-term returns have remained strong for Ireland’s pension managers, keeping the three-year average at 5.8%. Over the past five years, the return has been 7.7%. Irish group pension managed fund returns over the past ten years have been a strong 10.0% per annum on average.
