European Mandates

March 2009

bfinance and the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Pension Fund have announced the appointment of two fund managers to manage a £40million mandate in active currency. The successful managers are Mesirow Financial Currency Management and Goldmann Sachs Asset Management. The mandate will be split evenly between them.

SEI has been appointed as fiduciary manager to the £24million Habitat UK Pension and Life Assurance Plan, and will be responsible for advising on asset and liabilities matching strategies, constructing an efficient investment portfolio, selecting manages to run the portfolio, and monitoring and replacing investment managers. SEI will also manage Habitat’s defined contribution plan, and will provide advice and implementation via a range of manager-of-managers funds.

C Change Investments has selected State Street Corporation to provide fund administration services to the company, which generates returns from equity investments in organisations which address resource limits in energy, water, food, air and materials.

Following a search by bfinance, Avon Pension Fund has selected Partners Group and Schroders to manage a £180million mandate. The fund will be invested in Global and UK property. Around five per cent (£90million) of the fund’s assets will be controlled by Partners, to be invested in Global Property, excluding the UK, while Schroders will invest a further £90million in UK property.
