He is promoting the Group’s substantial European direct property strategies into Asia, as well as developing an Asian investor base for the local team’s indirect business.
Christiaan, who joined Aberdeen on 1 March 2011 from CBRE – Real Estate Finance Asia in Hong Kong, has seven years’ property experience, primarily in deal sourcing for institutional investors. In his most recent role he had a global remit, variously arranging direct, equity, or debt participation for clients.
He has also spent several years innovating property derivatives and earlier in his career advised corporate tenants on commercial leasing. He gained a Master of Laws from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Mark Bewick, Managing Director of Relationship Management and Business Development, Mellon Transition Management
Mark Bewick is Managing Director of Relationship Management and Business Development at Mellon Transition Management, the transition management specialist for BNY Mellon Asset Management.
Bewick’s role is to aid understanding among pension trustees in the UK and Ireland of the real cost of moving assets and managing the risk of a transition. He will also be charged with helping clients select the most appropriate and efficient of MTM’s beta management strategies and cost effective investment solutions. These are designed to ensure asset allocation is adjusted as efficiently as possible and enable schemes to ultimately bring actual market exposure closer to the trustees’ investment decisions.
Bewick has more than 26 years experience working in financial services, including 13 working for HSBC and the latter 13 years being devoted to the UK and Irish pension fund market through his various sales and relationship management roles at RBS Trust Bank and BNY Mellon Asset Servicing. He concluded his time with BNY Mellon Asset Servicing as Head of UK and Ireland Pension Fund Relationship Management.
His role in Asset Servicing also saw him hosting the BNY Mellon Annual Pension Summit and chairing his UK and Irish Pension Client Advisory Board. Through his numerous activities, Bewick has become synonymous with the proactive consultative provision of asset servicing to pension schemes and continues his work as a member of the National Association of Pension Funds Markets Committee.
Katrin Boström , Head of Nordic Sales, AXA Investment Managers
AXA Investment Managers has announced the appointment of Katrin Boström as head of Nordic sales. She will be responsible for building on the company’s presence in the region. Prior to joining AXA Investment Managers, Boström worked as executive director, head of sales and business development for Morgan Stanley Investment Management in Stockholm. She has also held similar roles at RiskMetrics Group (formerly JP Morgan) and Schroder Salomon Smith Barney (now Citigroup) in London.

Thomas Brand is Business Executive for Financial Markets and Treasury Services (FM&TS) for the German speaking and CEE & SEE region. Brand took on the new Frankfurt-based regional executive role at BNY Mellon in March 2011. For the 11 years previously, he served as Country Executive for Germany and regional executive for the German Speaking and CEE & SEE region at BNY Mellon.
Encompassing BNY Mellon’s Treasury Services, Corporate Trust, Alternative and Broker Dealer Services and Depositary Receipts businesses, FM&TS views the German Speaking and CEE & SEE region to be one of its key future growth areas. Brand also supports BNY Mellon subsidiary Pershing, the global financial business solutions provider, in the region.

Fred Bromberg is the Country Executive for Germany and regional executive for the wider German Speaking and CEE & SEE region at BNY Mellon. Bromberg joined the company in 2010 as a Senior Executive within the newly formed Strategic Client Group, a role he retained after his appointment to Country Executive in March 2011. Alan Collins is scheme actuary at leading actuary and pensions administrator Spence & Partners. Collins, a qualified Scheme Actuary, joined the actuarial team in Glasgow from Mercer HR Consulting on January 5. Collins is a graduate of the University of Glasgow, where he attained an M.Sci First Class in mathematics and physics and the University of Edinburgh, where he attained a post graduate diploma in financial mathematics. Collins has particular expertise in buy-outs/buy-ins, accounting for pension costs, risk reduction exercises and mergers and acquisitions.

Olivia Engel, Head of Active Australian Equities, State Street Global Advisors
Olivia Engel, Head of Active Australian Equities at State Street Global Advisors, works collaboratively with SSgA’s Advanced Research Center and portfolio management teams. Engel reports to Marc Reinganum, global head of Active Equities, Developed Markets.
Previously, Engel worked at GMO Australia, where she spent eight years, most recently as a senior portfolio manager responsible for the management of all Australian equity portfolios. There, she also contributed to the enhancement of the quantitative investment management process through in-depth quantitative research.
Engel spent the past 14 years in active quantitative investing, beginning at Commonwealth Investment Management and Colonial First State prior to GMO Australia. Among her additional areas of experience are domestic and international equities, strategy and asset allocation, business development and infrastructure investment.
She is deeply involved with the CFA Society of Sydney having served as president of the Society from 2007 – 2009, and prior to that, held various positions on the Board of Directors. She currently serves on the Institute’s conference planning committee. Engel holds a BComm and BEc from Australian National University.
