ESI for EU stable as EA figure falls by 0.6 points

Economic sentiment in the EU has remained unchanged for June, with euro area confidence decreasing by 0.6 points, latest ESI figures from the European Commission have revealed.

The ESI remained at 90.4 points between May and June with euro area confidence falling from 90.5 to 89.9 points.

On a country by country basis, sentiment in France fell by 1.5 points from 93.3 to 91.8 points. In Germany confidence fell 1.4 points from 101.9 to 100.5 and for the Netherlands ESI figures dropped from 86.7 to 86.4 points.

There was however a slight improvement in the UK which saw confidence increase from 91.0 to 92.9 points. Spain experienced an increase from 88.1 to 89.1 points and Italy saw confidence increase from 78.8 to 79.7.
