The pension fund for the Dutch Employee Insurance Agency (UWV) has signed a concept agreement to appoint Kempen Capital Management as fiduciary manager from 1 October 2017.
The fund chose Kempen following a tender and a comprehensive selection process. In a statement, Kempen said the choice was based on a few important themes such as strategic investment advice, and offering counterweight to underlying managers, both for the liquid and illiquid asset classes. Other important aspects are innovation and thinking along with changes in the pension industry.
Wilse Graveland, responsible for pension solutions in the Netherlands at Kempen, said: “We have gone through an intensive selection process with Pension Fund UWV. Giving a timely and adequate response to changing circumstances is only possible by recognising trends in the market and being proactive. We do this in close collaboration with our customers.”
Kempen chairman Paul Gerla, added: “Kempen is focused on the long term, also in its fiduciary management. We are very excited to start working for and with Pension Fund UWV. We really see it as a partnership, which is future proof in the current dynamic pension environment. Besides that, it is our ambition to strengthen and build Kempen’s position in the pension industry.”
Pension Fund UWV has around 55,000 members and assets of approximately €7.3bn. For Kempen, the fund will be its third fiduciary customer with assets of more than €5bn.
