Members of the Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors (CEIOPS) have elected Gabriel Bernardino as the new chairman of CEIOPS, and Antoine Mantel as vice-chairman.

Bernardino, of the Instituto de Seguros de Portugal, and Mantel, of the Autorité de Contrôle des Assurances et des Mutuelles, will be supported by the new managing board members: Tony Hobman, The Pensions Regulator; Joanne Kellermann, De Nederlansche Bank; Flavia Mazzarella, Istituto per la Vigilanza sulle Assicurazioni Private e di Interesse Collettivo; and Csaba Varga, Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority.

The members also ruled that Michel Flamée (CBFA), chairman of the review panel, will attend CEIOPS managing board meetings on a permanent basis.

The new managing board and the chairman will initially serve for two years as stated under CEIOPS by-laws, but are subject to early discharge due to the institutional changes under the proposed reform of the European financial supervisory framework.

The current managing board has been discharged with effect from 29 October 2009.
