Michael Siciliano has been appointed as head of North American sales at Baring Asset Management. He has a wide range of experience in multi-asset strategy and international equity portfolios and joins Barings from Merganser Capital Management in Boston where he worked as director of sales. Siciliano has also worked at ING Institutional and Mellon Financial in New York in senior product development and sales roles.
Northern Trust has appointed Struan Malcolm as head of asset servicing sales in the Nordics. Malcolm will be responsible for identifying opportunities to market Northern Trust’s asset servicing solutions to insurance companies, pension funds, charities and fund managers across Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. Malcolm joins from Nomura where he was senior transition manager, responsible for the Nordic region.
Threadneedle has appointed William Davies as head of global equities. Davies has headed the investment manager’s market-leading European equities team since 1999. In his new role, he will oversee a team of 10 as he looks to build the company’s global equities franchise. Davies joined Threadneedle at the company’s inception in 1994.
Matthew Whitbread has joined Baring Asset Management as an investment manager in its multi-asset team. Whitbread has 12 years’ investment experience and joins from FundQuest Incorporated where he was a portfolio manager with asset allocation responsibilities. Prior to this, he was a senior portfolio adviser with Pyramis Global Advisers and is a chartered financial analyst (CFA),a chartered alternatives investment analyst (CAIA) and a financial risk manager(FRM).
First State Investments has announced the appointment of Julie Thomas and Ben Yeoh as sector investors for its global equities team. Thomas who has more than 18 years of fund management experience will specialise in financial stocks and joins from Oriel Securities. Yeoh will deal with healthcare stocks and joins from Atlantic Equities where he was responsible for healthcare research with a focus on the US.
First State Investments has announced the appointment of Tal Lomnitzer as portfolio manager within the global resources team. Lomnitzer has 13 years’ experience in buy-side global resources research and investment and has a broad knowledge of both long and short investing strategies within global resources equities. He joins from Merchant Global Resources Fund and has also worked as a partner and fund manager at NewSmith Capital and ORN Capital.
Reyl Asset Management has appointed senior fund manager Gilles Pradère to its fixed income team. Pradère will help the company to broaden its fixed income offering, with the addition of long/short products aimed at achieving absolute returns registered UCITS IV. He began his career at BNP Paribas where he managed fixed income arbitrage activities and has also worked at Pictet Asset Management as a senior investment manager.
Phil Wagstaff has joined Henderson Global Investors as global head of distribution. He will lead the company’s distribution teams across retail, institutional and hedge funds with a focus on coordinating global sales channels. Wagstaff has over 25 years’ asset management experience and has held senior distribution roles at Gartmore, New Star and M&G. He will join Henderson in January.
Cécile de Lasteyrie has joined Dexia Asset Management as head of sustainable & responsible investing (SRI) development. She will help continue refining the company’s SRI strategy in coordination with the global head of SRI Isabelle Cabie. She joined Dexia AM in 2005 as head of consultants &RFP desk and then worked as head of marketing and communication.
Man Group has announced that Ruud Hendriks has been appointed as non-executive chairman of Man’s Institutional Department. Hendriks has vast experience in institutional sales, having worked as a managing director and co-head of sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Goldman Sachs and global head of institutional sales for Robeco.
Michael Ho has joined State Street Global Advisors as chief investment officer for its active emerging markets equities and global macro capabilities. Ho joins from Mellon Capital Management where he was responsible for around $220 billion in assets under management and dealt with currency, quantitative equity, active and passive fixed income and index equity strategies. He will report to Alistair Lowe, global chief investment officer for active equities.
